Now that I do some research, I discover that this company was spun out of Oxford University. Wow. I thought maybe it came from the famous Oxo cubes or some mixed up Japanese name from Konica. OK, I know they are doing Nano Research and are successful, but it is still strange to see their company name on a building and wonder what is going on. Certainly for legal uniqueness they score well.

Ox is a difficult prefix for linguists to work with as it does not provide a natural flow to the next syllable. But there are far better ways than doing it like they have done with Oxonica. Not to worry, consumers will never see their product offerings.

And as for the logo, well the designer is complemented on doing the best with a tough name. But there is only so much anyone can do. See them at www.oxonica.com.
