USA - Federal Trademark Office

The most important address in worldwide trademarking is the US Patent and Trademark Office as they have by far the biggest registration database. Of course, for names you only need the Trademark wing of this office. Search and register your own US Federal Trademark at www.uspto.gov/main/trademarks/htm.

Last year they received over 250,000 trademark applications or actions. They are the only US office that can issue registered trademarks - which can then carry the extremely valuable ® symbol.
